    The 81st Bronx-Westchester Christmas Bird count held Sunday, December 26 found 110 species and 38,414 birds..  

Highlights included:
Six Pine Warblers, two Baltimore Orioles, and Merlin in the Bronx Botanical Gardens
An Ovenbird (2nd count record) and Northern Goshawk in the Bronx Zoo 
Great Egret in Larchmont
Two Eurasian Wigeon, one on Premium Mill Pond and the other in Rye
White-winged Scoter and Northern Gannet off Edith G. Read Sanctuary in Rye
Four Bald Eagles, ties high count set in 1945
Six species of owl including Barred, Long-eared, Short-eared and Saw-whet
Chipping Sparrow in Woodlawn Cemetery
Good numbers of Rusty Blackbirds in Van Cortlandt Park

There were new high counts for Ring-necked Duck (26), Wild Turkey (47) and American Robin (830).

Ring-neck Pheasant reached an all time low of 3 birds
