Volunteer With Hudson River Audubon Society!

Do you want to become more involved? Meet new people? Know that you are making a difference in your local community?

Current volunteer opportunities:

Butterfly Garden: HRAS maintains a large butterfly garden at the Lenoir Nature Preserve. Whether you have a green thumb or can help out with weeding or general yard work we can use you. We need people for spring clean-up (April); planting (May); watering and weeding (June-Sept); prep for winter (late Oct) Contact Mary Harrington at TCTallon@aol.com or 914-667-1494

Field Trip Leaders: We are always on the look out for knowledgeable and engaging field trip leaders. Please let us know if you are interested in leading a trip for us. It doesn't have to be about birds, we can use people for wildflower walks, butterfly walks; nature photography walks and special interest outings such as canoeing or visiting a special show or nature exhibit. It is a wonderful way to meet new people and make new friends.

Hawk Watch: HRAS conducts a Hawk Watch at Lenoir each fall. We can use people to cover the watch during the week. You don't have to be an expert at identifying hawks, partial coverage is better than no coverage.

Blue Bird Nest Box Trail: We need people to erect and maintain boxes on both public (Lenoir) and private lands, especially in March before breeding begins.

Board Positions: HRAS is always in need of new people with fresh ideas. You can attend a meeting just to see what we do. We are in currently in need of a Conservation Chair and Vice President. We have many positions that may need a new person including, President, Newsletter Editor, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Program Chair, Field Trip Chair, Newsletter Distribution, Hospitality Chair (refreshment for our meetings), Education, Publicity, Membership, Fundraising.
